Intro: Welcome to the French Made Easy podcast, where I give you all the basics you need to speak French clearly and confidently. I'm your host, Mathilde, and I'm a French teacher, mumpreneur, and bread and cheese lover. Join me as I dive into all things French for beginners, and deliver to you bite-sized and easy-to-follow lessons every Tuesday. Let's get started, "on commence"!

Hi guys! Bonjour Ă  tous! Welcome back to the French Made Easy podcast! This is episode number 47, numĂ©ro 47! In today's episode, we'll be learning the living room vocabulary! Le vocabulaire du salon! We've already learned the vocabulary for the bathroom & the kitchen, so still a bit more to go in our "house series"! And you guys always ask me for quizzes, so in this episode again, you'll have a little quiz at the end!

Before you start, make sure you have the lesson cheat sheet in front of you, so go and download it first. It's free. After the lesson, head over to the French Made Easy library to download your lesson's exercises. And it's also free.

PrĂȘts? Ready? C'est parti!

So first word is:

  • le salon (living room)

  • le canapĂ© (couch)

  • le fauteuil (armchair)

  • le coussin (cushion)

  • la couverture (blanket)

  • le tapis (rug)

  • la tĂ©lĂ©vision ou la tĂ©lĂ© (tĂ©lĂ©vision or TV)

  • la table basse (coffee table)

  • la lampe (lamp)

  • la plante (plant)

  • le vase (vase)

  • l’horloge (clock)

  • le tableau (painting)

  • les rideaux (curtains)

  • l'Ă©tagĂšre (shelf)

Alright so that's it, we've got our 15 words.

Now it's time for our quiz!

I'll say the words in English first; you have 5 seconds to translate them in French. Then I'll give you the answer. PrĂȘts? Ready?

  • painting -> le tableau

  • lamp -> la lampe

  • living room -> le salon

  • tv -> la tĂ©lĂ©

  • rug -> le tapis

Now we're doing the reverse; I'll say the words in French; you have 5 seconds to translate them in English.

  • la plante -> plant

  • le fauteuil -> armchair

  • le coussin -> cushion

  • l'Ă©tagĂšre -> shelf

  • la table basse -> coffee table

Et voilĂ ! How did you go?

Well, that's now the end of this week's lesson. I hope you enjoyed it. And if you did, let me know in the comments or on my Instagram! Don't forget to go and download your lesson's exercises so you can practice what you've learned today!
