Intro: Welcome to the French Made Easy podcast, where I give you all the basics you need to speak French clearly and confidently. I'm your host, Mathilde, and I'm a French teacher, mumpreneur, and bread and cheese lover. Join me as I dive into all things French for beginners, and deliver to you bite-sized and easy-to-follow lessons every Tuesday. Let's get started, "on commence"!
Hi guys! Salut à tous! Welcome back to the French Made Easy Podcast! This is episode number 44, numéro 44. And in this episode, we're learning some kitchen vocabulary! Le vocabulaire de la cuisine! There'll also be a quiz at the end of the episode. As you can see, we're a bit on a roll; last week, we learned things related to the bathroom, this week the kitchen, and in the next few weeks, we'll do other rooms in the house.
As usual, it's easier if you have the lesson cheat sheet in front of you, so go and download it first. It's free. After the lesson, head over to the French Made Easy library to download your lesson's exercises. It's also free.
Now, just a quick reminder that this week I'm running a free webinar called "5 Essential Steps to Learn French Pronunciation," and you guys have been hundreds to sign up, so thank you so much! Alright, now let's get started with our lesson.
Please repeat after me, répetez après moi.
la cuisine (kitchen)
le réfrigérateur (fridge)
you can also say le "frigo" which is shorter and easier. Personally, I always say "frigo."
le congélateur (freezer)
la bouilloire (kettle)
la machine à café (coffee machine)
la poêle (pan)
la casserole (saucepan)
le grille-pain (toaster)
le four à micro-ondes (microwave)
you can also simply say "le micro-ondes."
les plaques de cuisson (hot plates)
l'évier (kitchen sink)
le lave-vaisselle (dishwasher)
(by the way, “vaisselle” means “dishes”)
le four (oven)
la fourchette (fork)
le couteau (knife)
la cuillère (spoon)
le bol (bowl)
l'assiette (plate)
la tasse (cup)
le verre (glass)
la poubelle (bin)
le tablier (apron)
Alright, done, we've got our 20+ kitchen words!
QUIZ
So, now let's do our little quiz.
I'll say the words in English first; you have 5 seconds to translate them in French. Then I'll give you the answer. Prêts? Ready?
apron (le tablier)
knife (le couteau)
fridge (le frigo)
freezer (le congélateur)
pan (la poêle)
Now we're doing the reverse; I'll say the words in French; you have 5 seconds to translate them in English.
la tasse (cup)
le grille-pain (toaster)
l'assiette (plate)
l'évier (kitchen sink)
la bouilloire (kettle)
Woohoo done, how did you go?
Well, that's now the end of our lesson! As usual, make sure you go and download your exercises so you can practice what you've learned today.
